The development of apprenticeships standards and their assessment are being taken forward by groups of employers in what the Government has termed ‘trailblazers’, says People 1st Policy Digest.

Across the Hospitality Sector three have been approved

Senior Chef in Culinary Arts

Senior Chef in Production Cookery

Airside Operator

The sector has applied to develop the following standards:-

Hospitality: Commis Chef, Chef de Partie and Team Member Hospitality

The route to determine the assessment process for the new standards is already underway and is expected to be ready for final submission in early February 2015. Trial apprenticeships will begin in the summer of 2015 and once the impact of the new delivery system is understood, the programme will roll out in August 2017. ICSA will be working with People 1st to be kept fully informed of the new delivery standards. In the meantime further information can be found on People 1st website
