The Independent Cookery Schools Association (ICSA) is pleased to announce a formal partnership with The Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH).

ICSA is the only independent, not-for-profit, regulatory body for cookery schools in the UK, promoting excellence in cookery skills and training. CTH is an international qualifications awarding body, whose core mission is to provide the highest standard of hospitality, tourism and culinary qualifications.

Member cookery schools must provide ‘Consistently excellent cookery skills and training’ to all students, both career and lifestyle whilst promoting ICSA’s 5 core values: Sustainability, Seasonality, Sourcing Regionally, Healthy Eating, focusing on nutrition and anti-obesity, and Supporting British Producers and Suppliers,

CTH offer culinary, career skills and management qualifications from entry to postgraduate levels to the highest international standards, achieved through robust monitoring supported by industry, universities and the UK government regulator, Ofqual.

CTH has partnerships with major international employers and academic institutions. CTH is a member of the Federation of Awarding Bodies.

Interest in real food, be it at home or as a profession, is greater than ever before and the importance of ICSA’s core values and CTH’s focus on recognising the highest standards in culinary training means this partnership offers exciting scope for promoting and recognising the importance of culinary skills training. ICSA members, who include world-leading professional academies, small artisan cookery schools and members offering experience days, play a vital role in educating the public on the importance of a natural, sustainable and nutritious diet. CTH is the portal through which such education is internationally recognised.

James Day, Operations Director of ICSA says, “We are delighted to partner with CTH to further advance the accessibility of professional culinary qualifications to the public, whilst also delivering increased value to our growing membership of privately funded independent cookery schools UK wide.”

Simon Cleaver, Director of Partnerships at CTH says “ICSA represents the very best of the UK’s culinary training, whilst CTH prides itself on its Gold Standard qualifications in culinary skills. There’s a natural fit between the two organisations that will help drive standards in the sector. Together we can train the next generation of great chefs!”

Collectively this means that all ICSA members are now able to deliver a wider network of professional courses, and their new ‘Centres of Excellence’ will be enabled to feed students into the ICSA Academies, via the ICSA points scoring system set to be applied to course modules, thus enabling a wider access to professional qualifications for students.
